Malcolm Coward

Malcolm Coward

Malcolm Coward S.E.A. is internationally recognised as one of England’s leading equestrian artists. Winner of numerous awards at the Society of Equestrian Artists in London, including the President’s Medal – the premier award, he has also had his work accepted at the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Birmingham Society.

Malcolm Coward was born in Malton, North Yorkshire and has always lived for his painting and animals which include Jacobs Sheep, geese, numerous ducks and chickens, several horses, cats and dogs. All these he constantly observes which contributes to his eye for anatomy and movement.

Hi work is noted for its tremendous use of colour and light and his powerful, yet sensitive, brush strokes.

In 1996 his painting of Andalusian Summer was selected from among the work of artists from the whole of Europe to be exhibited at the major equestrian exhibition held at Cadre Noir in France. At the exhibition a further selection is made and the best twenty pictures are selected for the travelling exhibition to be shown throughout France, starting at the Paris show in December and subsequently being exhibited at the main French studs throughout 1997. Hi painting was one of the twenty.

Malcolm Coward has, of course, exhibited in many countries over the past ten years, including Sweden at the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm, at Lifestyle Europe in Tokyo, at the Salon du Cheval in Paris, at the Feria in Jerez, Spain and at the Fiera di Verona in Italy.

Malcolm spends much of his time travelling the world watching horses of various types and in addition to his Limited Editions undertakes a few commissions each year.
